Good Reasons to Bring Sergeant Bergdahl Home

Many questions remain about the release of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl. I believe that as a member of the United States Armed Forces, he deserves, at least, the withholding of judgment until hearings occur. Bergdahl is a member of the one percent of U.S. citizens who volunteer to serve in the Armed Forces to protect the rest of us. He is officially in good standing and received promotions while in captivity. There are two reasons why he could not have been left in enemy hands. First, it has always been the policy of the United States to get its soldiers back, and time was running out because our troops will come home from Afghanistan by the end of the President's term. Perhaps equally important, debriefing Bergdahl could tell us what we can get from no other intelligence. The President made the right call in bringing Sergeant Bergdahl home, and now it is time for Congress to do an impartial, bipartisan inquiry of the kind anyone who served in our Armed Forces deserves.
