Norton to Give Keynote Address at DC Advocacy Partners Graduation Ceremony, Tomorrow

September 16, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will give the keynote address at the graduation ceremony for the DC Advocacy Partners leadership training program’s class of 2016 tomorrow, Saturday, September 17, 2016, at 1:00 p.m., at One Judiciary Square (441 4th St. NW). Graduates of the free nine-month program for residents with intellectual or developmental disabilities and their families, as well as professionals working with individuals with disabilities, have been trained in advocacy communications for disability rights to influence policy and promote services that support those living with developmental disabilities. Norton is the co-chair of the Congressional Down Syndrome Caucus and has a daughter with Down Syndrome.

“DC Advocacy Partners changes disabilities into abilities, beginning with empowering their graduates as policy self-advocates,” Norton said. “I look forward to speaking at the graduation and thanking the graduates for their contributions to our city.”
