Norton to Speak at St. Augustine Episcopal Church’s Thurgood Marshall Celebration, Sunday

May 19, 2018

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will deliver the homily at a special celebration of the life of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall tomorrow, Sunday, May 20, 2018, at 9:00 a.m., at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church (555 Water St. SW). Marshall and his family, who will be present, attended St. Augustine's when they moved to the District of Columbia.

Norton will use a passage from the Bible that she selected to exemplify Marshall's life and service. Marshall's life and his seminal case, Brown v. Board of Education, are especially meaningful to the Congresswoman, a graduate of D.C. public schools, and the District, which was among the five cases filed as part of Brown.
