June 23, 2014

WASHINGTON, DC—The office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that dynamic West African musician and vocalist, and 2013-2014 Strathmore Artist-in-Residence, Amadou Kouyate will perform at Lunchtime Music on the Mall on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from noon to 1:00 p.m. on the National Mall, by the Smithsonian Metro Station, at 12th St. and Jefferson Dr. SW. Lunchtime Music on the Mall, sponsored by the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority, the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and the National Park Service, in conjunction with Norton, brings local and regional musicians to the National Mall to perform during the lunchtime hours, giving visitors as well as federal and other office workers downtown a break from the pace of business in Washington.

The sponsors of Lunchtime Music on the Mall plan to continue bringing performers to the Mall every Tuesday and Thursday during the warm months.
