Big News Press Conference with Stimulus Details at 11 a.m.

Washington, D.C. - This morning, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will detail the $620 million in stimulus funds, which the District will receive in many program areas and additional federal infrastructure that will benefit the District. Her press conference will be held at 11 a.m. at the Washington Convention Center, Room 146-A, during her 9th Annual Tax and Information Fair. She will be joined by: Mia Harrington, a D.C. resident who will get an $8,000 tax credit from the stimulus package passed by the House yesterday afternoon and by the Senate last night; PEPCO President Thomas H. Graham, whose company, working with the District, will benefit from the stimulus package, and Jackie Pelt; and the Congresswoman's chief volunteer tax preparer who will prepare tax returns for D.C. residents free of charge until April 15 at the Far Southeast Strengthening Collaborative, located in the same building where Norton's Southeast District office is located, near "The Big Chair" on Martin Luther King Avenue, S.E..
Norton and the participants will elaborate on the many elements in the stimulus package, which benefit city residents, and other services available at the Tax and Information Fair, which is expected to draw more than 500.
The Congresswoman also will give details concerning Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid's (D-Nev.) announcement yesterday to making the D.C. House Voting Rights Act of 2009 the first major bill on the Floor after the current President's Day recess.
