WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) is encouraging residents to receive health screenings, information, and support services by many of the region's leading health care providers and organizations at a free health clinic Thursday, September 17, 2015, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library (901 G St. NW). The Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Health Braintrust, with Norton and CBC Braintrust Chairwoman Dr. Robin Kelly, Ph.D. (D-IL), is hosting the free community health screening clinic. Offered services will include mammograms, blood pressure and glucose screenings, dental exams, depression counseling, HIV testing, and nutritional advice.
The focus of the CBC Braintrust is to end disparities in health care by performing outreach and connecting underserved communities with more access to quality, preventative health care in their area. Norton has been a long-time advocate of expanding access to health care and health resources for vulnerable District of Columbia residents.
