NORTON TO APPEAR IN FARCICAL “SHAKESPEARE”

Washington, DC—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will play the role of one of the “Antipholus Brothers” identical twins, alongside author and documentary producer Andrew Cockburn, in “Will on the Hill: Much Ado About Washington,” at The Shakespeare Theatre Company’s 14th annual Congressional Night at 7:00 this evening (Monday, February 13). Norton will join other members of Congress and media personalities in the farce created by Tony Award-nominated playwright Ken Ludwig that will showcase “funny and poignant passages based on Shakespeare that relate to contemporary politics in America.”

Proceeds from Congressional Night will benefit the Theatre’s education, artistic and community outreach programs. The Southeast Project, for example, exposes teenagers to playwriting, theatre games and performances; and Students for Shakespeare gives area schools the opportunity to experience the art of live theatre for free.

Besides Norton, others expected to participate tonight include Representatives John Conyers, Ed Markey and Stephanie Herseth; and media personalities such as Sally Quinn, Ben Bradlee, Nina Totenberg, and Kathleen and Chris Matthews.
