The Foggy Bottom Whomp-Stompers are a local band that plays a mix of Hot Jazz, Dixieland, early Swing Blues, and the greatest hits of the 1920s and 1930s. The band features Ben Cohen (trumpet), Ben Schifman, (guitar and banjo), Dhanesh Mahtani (resonator and lap steel), David Elliot (bass saxophone), Joanna Jones (vocals), and Michael Scherz (drums). Local artist Rajan Sedalia will display a visual art presentation.

Lunchtime Music on the Mall takes place every Thursday from noon – 2:00 p.m. and is produced by a partnership of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA), the District of Columbia Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and the National Park Service (NPS), in conjunction with Norton’s office.

“We are indebted to the sponsors of Lunchtime Music on the Mall, WMATA NPS, and the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, for making the Mall inviting for workers and visitors alike,” Norton said. “This year, we have prime space near the Air and Space Museum and chairs to sit on, too. It is an especially good break for nearby employees.”
