Members of Congress and Staff to Learn the Ins and Outs of the District at “Ask Me About D.C.”
WASHINGTON, DC – Destination DC, the official convention and tourism corporation for the District of Columbia, in conjunction with Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), will welcome members of the House and Senate and congressional staff to the annual "Ask Me About D.C." fair tomorrow, February 19, 2014, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room 345 in the Cannon House Office Building. Guests will get a taste of some of the city's best and varied eateries, and representatives from tourism and entertainment-related businesses will be on hand to answer questions about the District's many tourist attractions, lodging, dining, culture, entertainment, sports activities, and transportation. The press is invited, and Norton and Destination DC President and CEO Elliott Ferguson will be available at 12:30 p.m. to speak with the media.
Members and staff will get answers to top tourism questions from D.C. experts that they can share with their constituents, learn about D.C.'s museums, theaters, nightlife and sports organizations, discover new neighborhoods for dining, shopping and sightseeing.
"The District is full of live music, renowned theater, film festivals, dining experiences, museums and all the other ingredients that make D.C. one of the world's premier destinations," Norton said. "‘Ask Me about D.C.' will equip Members and staff with the latest information on what is happening all over the city, as we try to dispel the myth that D.C. is only a federal government town."
