Norton and Members of Congress to Help First Lady Build Playground in Southeast

June 15, 2011

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will join First Lady Michelle Obama and House and Senate colleagues for a day of congressional service to help build a KaBOOM! playground today, from 12:00 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. KaBOOM!, a national non-profit with the mission of creating play areas within walking distance of every child in America, will build its 2000th playground at Imagine Southeast Public Charter School in Ward 8, marking the organization's 15-year anniversary.

"The First Lady and my House and Senate colleagues are doing a good deed for our city and our kids by building a KaBOOM! play area with their bare hands," said Norton. "Our thanks to KaBOOM! for spearheading the construction of the playground at Imagine Southeast Public Charter School. This playground will be particularly appreciated because it is located in Ward 8, an area of the District that has few spaces just for children to play."
