Norton Announces a Women’s History Month Breast Cancer Heroes Forum Featuring Miss D.C.

Washington, D.C. – The office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today a District of Columbia Breast Cancer Heroes forum in celebration of Women's History Month, featuring Miss D.C. Allyn Rose, who represented D.C. in this year's Miss America contest, with a unique and empowering breast cancer story. The celebration will also feature Dr. Christine Teal, Director of Breast Surgery at the George Washington University Hospital, offering the unique perspective of both a physician and patient of breast surgery, and Dr. Regina Hampton, founder of Breast Care for Washington, which provides care to underserved women at the Capital Breast Care Center in the District. The event, for D.C. residents, will be free and open to the public on Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., at the George Washington University Hospital Auditorium at 900 23rd St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20037.

"Miss D.C., Dr. Teal and Dr. Hampton, along with other strong women, will offer inspiration and state-of-the-art information for women of all ages in the fight to prevent and cure breast cancer," said Norton. "The event will offer a rare combination of wonderful stories and the latest from medical science on new approaches to fighting and curing breast cancer."
