Norton Announces Additional Emergency Planning and Security Funding for D.C. in New House Coronavirus Bill
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced today that the Take Responsibility for Workers and Families Act, the phase three coronavirus response bill introduced by House Democrats yesterday, provides the District of Columbia $11 million in supplemental fiscal year 2020 emergency planning and security funding for costs associated with the federal presence in the nation's capital.
The $11 million included in the bill is in addition to $18 million D.C. received in the enacted fiscal year 2020 D.C. Appropriations bill. Norton said she is working to get the supplemental funding included in the final phase three coronavirus response bill.
“During these unprecedented times, we appreciate that the District of Columbia's emergency planning and security needs made it onto the House version of the third COVID-19 bill," Norton said. “This gives us a head start in getting these funds into the final bill.”
