Norton Announces Details of February 11 Committee Vote on D.C. Statehood Bill

Norton Ready for Mark Up to Assure Full Voting Rights and Self-Government

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced details for the House Oversight and Reform Committee mark up and vote on D.C. statehood this Tuesday, February 11, at 10:00 a.m. in Rayburn 2154. The Committee vote is the first congressional vote on D.C. statehood since Norton got the District's first statehood vote ever in 1993.

Norton expects a large turnout for the historic event. Doors at the Rayburn House Office Building open at 7:30 a.m., however, doors to the hearing room (room 2154) will not open until 9:45 a.m.

Seating is not guaranteed:

The hearing will take place in Rayburn 2154. There will be three overflow rooms with wheelchair-accessible seating: Rayburn 2141, 2247 and 2203. Seating is not guaranteed and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Ways to Watch:

First, you can come to the Rayburn House Office Building before the mark up and find a seat in one of the rooms. Again, seating will be limited.

Second, Norton recommends that residents watch at home or online on the House Oversight and Reform Committee's youtube page or the House Oversight homepage, which will be streaming the event live.
