Norton Announces Lottery to Distribute West Lawn Capitol Tickets for Pope Francis’ Congressional Address

September 15, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced that her office will hold a lottery drawing later this week to determine recipients of the Congresswoman's allotted standing-room tickets to watch Pope Francis' address to Congress on jumbotrons on the West Lawn of the Capitol on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Ticket holders will have to stand for several hours before Pope Francis arrives on Capitol Hill. Norton said the lottery is the fairest way to distribute the tickets because her office has received far more requests than the 50 tickets that are available. The drawing will be conducted by a student from a Catholic school in the District of Columbia.
