Norton Announces Regional Delegation Meeting with DDOT and FHWA on I-395 Closures

December 8, 2014

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), the ranking member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Highways and Transit, announced a regional delegation meeting with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and District of Columbia Department of Transportation (DDOT) officials on Thursday, December 11, at 3:00 p.m. on Capitol Hill, following recent news of proposed I-395 closures between New York Avenue and D Street NW without notice to her or any regional consultation. The possible plan, a federal highway project to shut down a portion of the highway to allow development over I-395, which would displace 90,000 cars each day, became known to most Members of Congress through news reports.

DDOT and FHWA have been trying to facilitate a major project to reconnect F St and G St NW over a part of I-395.
