Norton Announces Rundown of Annual Job Fair, Next Thursday
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced the rundown of her annual Job Fair, which will be held next Thursday, August 21, 2013, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center (800 Mount Vernon Place NW – between 7th and 9th Streets NW). The event will begin with workshops, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on federal jobs available despite the sequester, top jobs available in the D.C. region, and resume tips. The morning event will be topped off by a Dress for Success Fashion Show. The job fair, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., is expected to feature many employers with opportunities for federal, state, local and private-sector jobs, and jobs for recent graduates. The job fair is free, but open to D.C. residents only. Job-seekers must bring proof of D.C. residency (photo ID, voter registration card, pay stub, utility bill, or lease).
"Our annual free job fair has always been popular with residents because it provides a one-stop shop for employers from throughout the region to talk with the District's talent pool face to face," Norton said. "I encourage residents to arrive early because our morning workshops will provide valuable insight on where the jobs are in this region and the best way to get them."
