Norton Apologizes to Sen. Collins for Mistaken Report of Collins' Opposition to D.C. Voting Rights
WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Norton issued the following correction to a statement made earlier:
"In our press release on the D.C. House Voting Rights Act this morning, we mistakenly indicated that Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) had been joined in his opposition to the House version of the D.C. House Voting Rights bill by Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME). I have called Sen. Collins to offer my personal apology. The Senator has been a loyal and diligent supporter of D.C. Voting Rights, as well as of many other D.C. issues of importance to me and to the entire city. I am relieved that Sen. Collins made no such a statement, and I can only thank her for her past support of D.C. issues. I take full responsibility. We not only acknowledge the error. We will try our best to continue to correct it. She deserves that and much more for her long support of the District of Columbia.
