August 14, 2007

Washington, DC-Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), will visit today the Safeway at 322 40th Street, N.E. in the East River Park Shopping Center as part of her Government-to-Go to bring services to people in the communities where they live. Norton kicked off Government-to-Go in May with a walking tour on 14th Street to visit Latino businesses and talk with merchants before going to the Giant Food Store in Tivoli Square.

The Giant was the first of several roving, community satellite offices she is setting up for constituent and casework services for residents who may not visit her three offices because of transportation, family or work schedules, language difficulty, recent immigration to the city, disability or other personal reasons. Norton Government-to-Go will be at the Safeway Food Store, 322 40th Street, NE from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., where staff will make referrals, hand out information and give advice on how residents can get the help and follow-up they may need. Norton will be arriving at the Safeway at 5:00 p.m. for media interviews and photo opportunities.
