Norton Calls on President to Act on Yesterday’s Speech in Ward 8 by beginning Fair Wages in Federal Contracts

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), at a rally with workers at the McDonald's located at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum, will call on President Obama to act on a major speech he delivered at the Arts Recreation Campus in Ward 8 yesterday by issuing an executive order requiring federal contractors to pay a livable wage. Norton, a member of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, will join other members of Congress in support of low-wage workers in D.C. and across the country at the Air and Space Museum today at 11:00 a.m. Calling the President's speech yesterday "the most important of his presidency," Norton will call on the President to act on his words by issuing an executive order requiring that fair wages be a factor in the competition for federal contracts like the one McDonald's won at the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum.
