Norton Caseworkers and Unity Health Care at Ward 6 Safeway Today with Blood Pressure Screenings and Information on Family Planning

March 8, 2013

Washington, D.C. – In honor of Women's History Month, Unity Health Care will accompany Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton's (D-DC) caseworkers to the Safeway in Ward 6, at 415 14th St. SE, from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. today. Today's "Government to Go" (G2G) program, which is free and open to the public, will provide blood pressure screenings and information on family planning. High blood pressure is associated with heart disease, which is the number one killer of women in the country.

Every week, Norton's caseworkers come to senior centers, grocery stores and other neighborhood sites to help residents with federal matters, such as Social Security or veterans' benefits, on the spot. This saves residents a trip to one of Norton's offices and helps residents better understand some of the benefits available to them, like Norton's D.C. Tuition Assistance Grant program.
