Norton Celebrates National Pretzel Day with Local D.C. Business Ahead of Her Annual Small Business Fair, June 15

April 26, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today celebrated National Pretzel Day on Capitol Hill with a local District of Columbia business, the Pretzel Bakery, which handed out free pretzels to a long line of staff and others. Norton said the District thrives on the success of its small businesses. Norton reminded D.C. residents of her upcoming annual Small Business Fair, which provides critical information, counseling, and resources to aspiring and current D.C. business owners. This year's Small Business Fair will take place on Thursday, June 15, 2017, at the Washington Convention Center.

"The Pretzel Bakery's success in the Capitol Hill neighborhood is emblematic of why D.C. small businesses are the drivers of growth in our hometown," Norton said. "It took both creativity and gumption to build a business around various kinds of pretzels, and the Pretzel Bakery's innovation has paid off as they celebrate five years of sustained success. The federal government is the largest employer in the District, but our economic growth depends upon successful small businesses like the Pretzel Bakery, which I was proud to host today."
