Norton Commends Youth Activism and Achievements Today at Two Separate Events, DC Flag Day Tattoo Rally and Ballou STAY High School Graduation
June 14, 2011
WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today will attend the community-organized DC Flag Tattoo Day rally in DuPont Circle from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to show her support for the groundswell of District residents who are self-organizing and coming forward to advocate for their voting rights. Following the rally, Norton will deliver the commencement address at the Ballou STAY High School graduation ceremony at 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Washington University.
"These two events today--the Tattoo celebration and the Ballou STAY graduation--are not unrelated. They both demonstrate young people's achievements," said Norton. "Over the past several months, young D.C. residents have been increasingly visible in expressing their right to full representation and self-governance. At the same time, I am pleased to have the opportunity to speak to D.C. youth who have overcome special circumstances to graduate from high school.
