Norton Continues Senior Legislative Tour with Visits to D.C. Senior Village and Wellness Center, This Week
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today announced that Norton will continue her Senior Legislative Tour with two visits this week. Norton will visit Capitol Hill Village (900 G Street, NE) on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m., and the Bernice Fonteneau Wellness Center (3531 Georgia Ave, NW) on Wednesday August 9, 2017, from noon – 2:00 p.m. Norton chose to tour District of Columbia senior villages and wellness centers instead of hosting a one-day event in order to increase the number of seniors she could meet with and to avoid requiring them to travel to an external location.
“Going to the neighborhood centers where seniors are is already proving helpful to our office in understanding their priorities,” Norton said. “D.C. seniors are also deeply interested in our firsthand accounts of congressional action and bills on local and national affairs.”
In addition to discussing important congressional bills and legislation important to D.C. residents, the Norton visit will feature remarks from a senior legislative staff expert on how the proposed Republican bill to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act would harm seniors and the current status of that bill. Norton’s office will announce further visits as they are scheduled.
