June 20, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) and Congressman Danny Davis (D-IL), co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus on Black Men and Boys, will host a hearing today on fatherhood in the U.S. Capitol Building. Norton and Davis will be joined by members of the Congressional Black Caucus and hear testimony from Mr. David A. Harris, President and CEO of Urban Strategies Council; Mr. Haki Nkrumah, Founder and CEO of Young Fathers of Central Florida, Inc.; Mr. Joseph Jones, Sr., Founder and President of the Center for Urban Families; and Mr. Roland Sebastian Martin, columnist and host of "Washington Watch with Roland Martin." The event is open to the public.

"The impact of having a positive role model in a young man's life cannot be underestimated," Norton said. "Fatherhood and role modeling are a critical part of anchoring and teaching our young men how to live, work, and thrive in society. Thank you to our witnesses who will testify on the importance of fatherhood in their communities and how we can encourage this kind of mentorship for all our young men."
