Norton Disappointed in Delay in Committee of the Whole Vote
Will Focus on D.C. Vote Bill
January 4, 2007

Washington, DC-The Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today said that the Democratic leadership had earlier indicated that the delegate vote in the Committee of the Whole, which the Republicans eliminated, would again be in the House rules. However, Norton learned yesterday that a separate resolution will be offered on this matter by Majority Leader Steny Hoyer. The Congresswoman is very grateful for his intention to do so. She had hoped to be able to vote in the Committee of the Whole on the 100 hours package of bills, however. Since no such vote in January appears possible, Norton believes her energy is best directed to getting the earliest approval in the House of the Utah-D.C. House vote bill, hopefully in February.
