Norton Encourages D.C. Residents to Join Her at National Dance Day Celebration at the Kennedy Center, Saturday
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today encouraged District of Columbia residents to get on their feet and enjoy the sixth annual National Dance Day celebration, presented by the Kennedy Center and the Dizzy Feet Foundation, in conjunction with Norton, on Saturday, July 30, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m., at the Kennedy Center. The free, all-day celebration of National Dance Day will feature dance performances, interactive routines, and dance lessons. Launched in 2010 by So You Think You Can Dance (SYTYCD) co-creator Nigel Lythgoe, National Dance Day is an annual celebration that encourages Americans to embrace dance as a fun and positive way to maintain good health. Norton has introduced congressional resolutions commemorating National Dance Day every year since 2010. Residents can watch an instructional video to learn the official 2016 National Dance Day routine, which is choreographed to the song “Dance Like Yo Daddy.”
“Celebrating National Dance Day here in the nation’s capital has revealed how many D.C. residents, like me, love to dance,” Norton said. “The annual celebration has brought people from all parts of the city to the Kennedy Center to appreciate dance not only as a great way to have fun and express yourself, but to live a healthy lifestyle by staying active doing something you love.”
