Norton Extends Application Deadline for U.S. Marshal for District of Columbia
Nominating Commission Accepting Applications Until July 13
WASHINGTON, D.C.—The office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) announced that Norton's Federal Law Enforcement Nominating Commission, chaired by Pauline Schneider, is accepting applications until Monday, July 13, 2015, to fill the position of U.S. Marshal for the District of Columbia. The U.S. Marshal for the District of Columbia is responsible for the enforcement of federal law throughout the District. President Obama extended Norton senatorial courtesy to recommend candidates for U.S. Attorney, federal district judges, and other important federal law enforcement positions in the District. Norton recommended the previous U.S. Marshal to the District of Columbia, Edwin D. Sloane, to President Obama.
Interested candidates must submit their applications by Monday, July 13. Applications should consist of a résumé, three references, and a letter of interest outlining the applicant's qualifications and reasons he or she wants the position. Applications should be sent to:
