‘Norton in Your Neighborhood’ Tonight to Discuss Latest Issues with ANC 6D06
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will host a “Norton in Your Neighborhood” community conversation with Advisory Neighborhood Commission 6D06 today, Tuesday, August 9, 2016, at 6:00 p.m., at Syphax Gardens (1501 Half Street SW).
Norton will engage District of Columbia residents on her efforts to keep Congress from overturning the District’s budget autonomy referendum and maintaining the first-ever D.C. Council-passed local budget, which is now law; her strong opposition to Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld’s proposal to permanently shut down Metro’s late-night weekend service; historic momentum for D.C. statehood ahead of the November statehood ballot initiative; Norton’s federal construction projects showing strong hiring of D.C. residents; what the historic sit-in on the House floor for new gun safety legislation meant for D.C.; and other congressional issues of interest to the community.
