‘Norton in Your Neighborhood’ Tonight with Eastland Gardens Civic Association
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will host a “Norton in Your Neighborhood” community conversation with the Eastland Gardens Civic Association tonight, Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at 6:30 p.m., at Zion Baptist Church (1234 Kenilworth Ave. NE). Norton will engage Eastland Gardens-area residents on issues of special concern to them, including more effective use and beautification of Kenilworth Park; increased economic development in the community; and funding for highway reconstruction to help traffic flow on DC-295. She will also discuss the recent major funding and legislative victories for the District of Columbia, Mayor Bowser’s recent announcement on a vote for statehood in November, congressional attacks on the District’s home rule, the President’s fiscal year 2017 budget, the highest number ever of House and Senate original cosponsors for her D.C. statehood bill, and other congressional issues of interest to the community.
“Eastland Gardens residents have raised good questions on federal issues in their neighborhood, and I want to hear from them about their priorities for me to address in Congress” Norton said.
