‘Norton in Your Neighborhood’ Tonight with Trinidad Neighborhood Association
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will host a “Norton in Your Neighborhood” community conversation with the Trinidad Neighborhood Association today, Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at 7:00 p.m., at the Trinidad Recreation Center (1310 Childress St. NE). Norton will engage Trinidad-area residents on her efforts to prevent Congress from overturning a referendum ratified overwhelmingly by District of Columbia voters in 2013 that granted the District budget autonomy; raising the federal minimum wage; enhancing congressional oversight and funding of Metro; the environmental cleanup of Hickey Run; and issues pertaining to the National Arboretum. She will also discuss the recent major funding and legislative victories for the District of Columbia, D.C. priorities in new surface transportation bill, the highest number ever of House and Senate original cosponsors for her D.C. statehood bill, and other congressional issues of interest to the community.
