‘Norton in Your Neighborhood’ with Edgewood Civic Association, Tonight
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will host a "Norton in Your Neighborhood" conversation in conjunction with the Edgewood Civic Association this evening, Monday, March 27, 2017, at 7:00 p.m., at the Summit at St. Martin's Apartments (116 T St. NE).
Norton will engage District of Columbia residents on protecting the District under the Trump administration and the Republican-controlled Congress; the Federal Bureau of Prisons proposal to place a 300 bed halfway house in Edgewood; her success last Congress in defeating 26 attempts to block or overturn D.C.'s local laws, including eight attempts to overturn D.C.'s gun safety laws; maintaining the record funding for D.C. Tuition Access Grants (DCTAG); her bill to make D.C. the 51st state, introduced at the same time Mayor Muriel Bowser and D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson delivered to Congress a petition for statehood, as directed by 85 percent of D.C. voters in November's statehood referendum; the priorities she got for D.C. in the recent surface transportation bill; and other congressional issues of interest to the community.
