WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) said today that the clock is quickly winding down for participants to learn the flash mob choreography for Saturday's, National Dance Day event being held at the Sylvan Theater, near 15th Street and Independence Avenue NW, on the National Mall, 3:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. This year's Dance Day, to be held annually on the last Saturday in July, will feature the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders, local tap dance sensation from the "Sophisticated Ladies" Arena Stage production Manzari Brothers, Olympic Figure Skating Gold medalist Michelle Kwan, So You Think You Can Dance celebrity judge Mary Murphy, event emcee and radio personality Jeannie Jones, model and actress Chasity Saunders, and So You Think You Can Dance finalist Gev Manoukian. The highlight of the day will be a dozen D.C. and regional dance groups offering a variety of dances, including salsa, ballet, hip hop, tango, and ballroom dancing.

"Saturday's late afternoon National Dance Day celebration will be a merciful respite from the heat, with a cooler weather forecast for tomorrow, and from the debt-ceiling negotiations that have consumed Washington," said Norton. "We will be dancing for physical fitness, and Democratic and Republican Members of Congress are welcome to come for bipartisan dancing, but only if they reach a debt-ceiling agreement."

National Dance Day is sponsored by the Dizzy Feet Foundation and the Larry King Cardiac Foundation, in conjunction with Norton. To learn the flash mob choreography for National Dance Day, visit: https://dance.blogs.fox.com/tag/national-dance-day/.
