Norton Joins Hometown D.C. in Mourning the Passing of Tim Russert
June 13, 2008
Washington, D.C. î º Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) released the following statement on the death of NBC's Tim Russert.
"I got to know and respect Tim first by seeing and admiring his professionalism on Sunday mornings, like millions of others, but then by trying my best to be responsive to his tough questions as a guest on ‘Meet the Press.' Tim worked on the mountain top of official Washington, but he lived in the valley of Hometown D.C. He didn't shut my mouth when I would work D.C. voting rights into a response. Like the rest of the world, we will remember Tim for the best journalism his profession has yet to offer. For sure, we will never forget that he lived here in Hometown D.C. as one of us. Tim's wife, Maureen Orth, his son Luke, and his father Tim Russert, Sr. have my deepest sympathy and the thoughts and prayers of the people of the District of Columbia."
