Norton Offers Condolences on the Passing of Joseph Barber

September 22, 2011

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) issued the following statement on the death of Joseph E. Barber Jr., longtime entertainment editor at WTOP Radio, who died earlier this week:

"It is with deep sadness that I express my condolences to the family and friends of Joseph Barber. A native Washingtonian, Joe, as he was commonly known, will be remembered for his love of films, arts and popular culture. For more than twenty years, Washingtonians relied on Joe's insightful analysis of classic, independent, and mainstream blockbuster films for WTOP, WETA, WHUR, The Washington Post, the Washington Times, and Washington's Current newspapers. Joe leaves a great legacy in local television and radio as an enthusiastic, but humble man who made a career out of what he loved and got a great deal of love from D.C. residents in return."
