Norton Offers Condolences to Biden Family on Loss of Promising Son, Beau
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) released the following statement on the passing of Joseph "Beau" Biden III, son of Vice President Joe Biden, and the former Delaware Attorney General:
"My heart and the condolences of the people of the District of Columbia are with Vice President Joe Biden and his family today on the loss of Beau Biden. Joe Biden has always been a good friend of the District, but our respect goes deeper than his service as a distinguished senator and vice president. His strength of character was clearly transmitted also to Beau in a family where family has always come first.
"Scion of a family with a famous name, Beau's service in the National Guard in Iraq and his award of the Bronze Star after his own election as Delaware's Attorney General and his two terms in that office show a young man eager to make his own way. In only 46 years, Beau Biden managed to live a full life. We in the District of Columbia are grateful for his life of selfless public service and share with the Biden family the loss to the family and the nation of a promising young American."
