Norton Remembers Her Friend Roger Wilkins

March 29, 2017

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) released the following statement on the passing of Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Roger Wilkins.

"With the passing of Roger Wilkins, our country and this city have lost a multi-talented American, and I have lost a friend. Whether as a public official, a journalist, or an academic, Roger left his mark on many issues, but we are particularly grateful for his lifetime devoted to the search for justice for African Americans and many others like them. Roger cared deeply about the District of Columbia, and was part of the lawsuit filed by the D.C. government and residents that argued that the continued denial of D.C. voting rights violated the 5th and 14th Amendments. We honor Roger for finding so many ways to serve."
