Norton Says D.C. Residents Will Experience Lots of Extras at Norton Job Fair, Tuesday
WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will host her Annual Job & Opportunities Fair tomorrow, Tuesday, August 9, 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the Washington Convention Center - Hall C, 801 Mt. Vernon Avenue NW, for District residents only with more than 100 private and public employers with confirmed job openings throughout the region. "To meet these tough times, this year's fair is a Jobs Plus Fair, that includes many extra services to help residents get the available jobs," Norton said. Along with providing residents with the opportunity to meet employers face-to-face, the Job Fair will feature extras, such as workshops from 9:30a.m. until 11:00a.m., on completing D.C. and federal employment applications, interviewing tips and techniques, topped off with a Dress for Success Fashion Show. In addition, the D.C. Department of Employment Services (DOES) mobile van will provide job seekers cover letter and resume editing assistance. "Even in the current economy our Job Fair will give D.C. residents perhaps the best chance at knowing where openings are and securing jobs in the D.C. region." In addition, The Whitman Walker Clinic will provide free HIV/AIDS testing, and the Sanford Brown Institute will offer free blood pressure and glucose screenings. Participants are asked to wear professional attire, to bring copies of their resumes, and to bring proof of D.C. residency (D.C. photo ID, utility bill, or the like). A complete list of participating companies and agencies will be provided onsite. |
