Norton Says Fauntroy Has Been In Touch With Family and Counsel
March 18, 2015
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Following news reports of a bench warrant issued by Prince George's County for former District of Columbia Congressman Walter Fauntroy, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today said that she has been in touch with Johnny Barnes, Fauntroy's current counsel and former congressional chief of staff; Dorothy Fauntroy, Fauntroy's wife; and the State Department. The warrant issued for Fauntroy is a routine bench warrant for failure to appear for a court hearing. Norton said that Rev. Fauntroy, who is abroad, has been in touch with his counsel and with his family. The Congresswoman understands that a more specific announcement will be made soon.
