Norton Says Hearing Today Will Focus on Solutions to D.C.'s Lead Issue

WASHINGTON, DC - Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) and the Oversight Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Postal Service, and the District of Columbia, on which Norton serves, will hold a hearing today, Tuesday, June 15, to take an in-depth look at the D.C. lead issue going forward. Today's hearing at 2:00 p.m. is in 2154 Rayburn House Office Building.

The hearing will examine how the District and federal agencies can reduce the exposure of D.C. residents to lead, as well as the steps necessary to identify and treat children and adults exposed to lead during the District's lead-in-the-water crisis from 2000 to 2004.

"I look forward to finding solutions to protect D.C. residents from future exposure to harmful levels of lead in the water and elsewhere, and treating residents who unknowingly were exposed during the lead-in-the-water scare," said Congresswoman Norton.
