Norton Sends Condolences to Her Friend, Civil Rights Leader Jesse Jackson, on Loss of His Mother, Helen Burns Jackson

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today said that she sent condolences to her friend and civil rights leader Reverend Jesse Jackson on the loss of his mother, Helen Burns Jackson, who passed away yesterday. The Congresswoman did not know Mrs. Jackson personally, but she said she was not surprised to learn that the mother of her friend, Jesse, was a generous and strong woman because her love and determination is reflected in Jesse Jackson himself.
