Norton Statement in Memory of Alexandros Petersen

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today released the following statement in memory of Alexandros "Alex" Petersen, a D.C. resident who died tragically in a terrorist attack in Afghanistan on January 17 at the age of 29.

"The thoughts and prayers of our city's residents are with Alex's family and friends. At a time when people of his age are often still trying to figure out what to do with their lives, Alex had already become an accomplished expert in central Asian geopolitics and energy policy. Most recently, he traveled to Kabul to teach young Afghans political science. For this, and his many accomplishments, his legacy as well as his commitment to improving the world around him, even at the young age of 29, should serve as an inspiration for others."
