Norton to Appear in Shakespeare Theater’s Annual “Will on the Hill” Performance, Tonight

June 15, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), a frequent performer in the annual, long-running comedic event "Will on the Hill" hosted by the Shakespeare Theatre Company (STC), will appear in the performance tonight, June 15, at 7:30 p.m. at Sidney Harman Hall (610 F Street NW). This year's performance will feature District of Columbia native and star of "Orange is the New Black" Samira Wiley, along with more than 20 Members of Congress. This year's play is Midsummer Madness, an original play written by Peter Byrne and directed by STC Associate Artistic Director Alan Paul. All proceeds from the event go toward STC's artistic, education and community outreach programs.

"Members of Congress get to perform on the House floor, but our floor speeches do not allow us to make fun of Congress itself as ‘Will on the Hill' invites," Norton said. "For D.C. residents, there is a special bonus because the proceeds from tonight's performance go to programs benefitting our local communities. I especially appreciate the work the Shakespeare Theatre Company does with our community's artistic and educational organizations."
