January 11, 2013

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will be the guest on NBC 4's "Viewpoint" this Sunday, January 13, 2013, at 7:00 a.m. On the program, which was taped and hosted by Jim Handly, among the issues Norton discusses are how the District was able to get through the 112th Congress without passage of the anti-home-rule legislation and riders that were proposed; her plans for getting President Obama to be more proactive during his second term in D.C.'s quest for equal citizenship and other affairs; and how her leading role on the economic development subcommittee will help cushion the city from the unprecedented federal spending cuts yet to come. As Inauguration Day approaches, Norton also discusses her meeting with the dozen law enforcement and other domestic agencies planning the ceremony and its security, and her efforts to keep D.C. as open for business as possible during the inauguration.
