February 24, 2012

WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will be a guest on NBC Washington's weekly news talk program "Viewpoint" with Jim Handly and the PBS news series "To the Contrary" this Sunday, February 26, 2012. On "Viewpoint," which airs on NBC4 at 7 a.m. on Sunday, Norton will discuss President Obama's commitment to her to work on Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Darrell Issa's (R-CA) D.C. budget autonomy bill, which is similar to a Norton bill, the administration's funding for Norton's top congressional priorities, a new bill that limits abortions uniquely for all District women, not only low-income D.C. women, and other breaking D.C. issues.

On "To The Contrary," which airs here a 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, and at various times nationally, on PBS, Norton will discuss the hearing that she and other Democrats held this week to hear from Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke after Republicans prevented her from testifying at a contraceptives hearing last week, a story about a high school student who faked a pregnancy for a school project, and France's decision to remove the word "mademoiselle" from official documents. Norton appears regularly with host Bonnie Erbé on "To the Contrary," which features commentary from four women with contrasting views on emerging controversial issues and political topics.
