Norton to Celebrate NYU D.C. Campus Groundbreaking Today

September 20, 2010

WASHINGTON, DC -- Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will offer remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for New York University's Constance Milstein and Family Academic Center in Washington, DC (NYU-DC) today, September 20, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at 1307 L Street NW.

"We are very pleased to welcome NYU's permanent presence in the nation's capital, allowing undergrad and grad students to attend one of the nation's great universities while perhaps working at agencies, non-profits, or in the business sector," said Norton. "Rooting NYU in the nation's capital, the seat of the federal government and home to more than 100 embassies, will ensure a firsthand global perspective for a great university that already has a global reach."

NYU-DC will be the university's newest study abroad site and will allow students studying art history, economics, history, journalism, and politics to spend a semester studying in the nation's capital. The 12-story mixed-use building with 75,000 square feet of space will be located in Northwest Washington, just blocks from the White House.
