Norton to Commemorate Women’s History Month with Celebration of African American Women in Ballet, March 22

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) today commemorated the start of Women's History Month by announcing her event to celebrate African American women in ballet on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at 1:30 p.m., at Duke Ellington School of the Arts (3500 R St. NW). The public is invited and encouraged to attend.

The event will include a special performance by Duke Ellington students, after which Norton will moderate a panel discussion featuring Virginia Johnson, Artistic Director, Dance Theater of Harlem; Ashley Murphy, Company Dancer, the Washington Ballet; and Sandra Fortune-Green, Ballet Instructor, Duke Ellington School of the Arts.
