Norton to Convene Business Fair Steering Committee Today Ahead of National Small Business Week
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will meet with her Business Fair Steering Committee today ahead of National Small Business Week, which begins next week on May 5th. The District of Columbia has more than 76,000 small businesses, which employ 47 percent of all employees in the District. The Office of Advocacy, an independent office within the U.S. Small Business Administration, reports that the District added over 11,000 jobs in 2019 due to small business success.
"Small businesses are 98 percent of the District's businesses, which says how vital they are for our economic success," Norton said. "Ahead of Small Business Week, I am convening my Business Fair Steering Committee to discuss our plan for Small Business Week as well as our Annual Business Fair on June 19th."
Norton will soon announce a slate of events she will attend for Small Business Week to highlight the District's success and economic growth powered by small businesses.
