Norton to Deliver a Featured Address to the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy, Saturday
WASHINGTON, DC – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will be a featured speaker at the American Constitution Society for Law and Policy (ACS) national convention Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 1:45 p.m. at the Capital Hilton Washington Hotel. The Congresswoman will discuss the sometimes uneasy intersection of equality and democracy in the United States and around the world. She will draw from her experience with the Civil Rights Movement and in securing voting rights and full equality for the District of Columbia.
This year's convention will also feature talks by U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor and longtime civil rights lawyer Theodore Shaw. Norton joins a list of highly distinguished ACS convention speakers in the past: U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder; Justices Stephen Breyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and John Paul Stevens; Guido Calabresi and Janet Napolitano.
Norton also serves as a member of ACS's 2014 Convention Honorary Host Committee.
