Norton to Give Opening Remarks at National League of Cities Congressional Briefing, Today

March 9, 2016

WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), ranking member of the Highways and Transit Subcommittee, will offer opening remarks at the National League of Cities’ Congressional City Conference Capitol Hill Briefing today, Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at 10:00 a.m., in the Congressional Visitor Center Auditorium. Norton will discuss the state of transportation and infrastructure in the nation’s cities and her role as one of the bipartisan “Big Four” House Transportation leaders, who wrote the recently-passed five-year surface transportation bill, the FAST Act.

“Mayors and local leaders across the country were among the most informed voices calling on Congress to pass a long-term surface transportation bill, and we finally got it done last year, the first long-term transportation bill in a decade,” Norton said. “Transportation is the backbone of our local economies. We need to act like it by investing substantially more to save our nation’s infrastructure, which was instrumental in making the United States a world leader.”
