Norton to Help Unveil Design and Timeline for New Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge, Today
WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) will join District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser and other D.C. officials to introduce the design and timeline of the new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge today, Thursday, August 10, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at Earth Conservation Corps (1520 1st Street, SE). Norton worked for more than a decade using her role on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee to secure critical federal funding for the infrastructure project.
“Because construction of a new Frederick Douglass Bridge has been one of my most important infrastructure projects for the District, I am particularly pleased that Mayor Bowser and the city are moving to bring the new Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge to fruition,” Norton said. “This new bridge is an important gateway to the nation’s capital that will help spur economic growth and development in D.C. neighborhoods east of the Anacostia River.”
